Emraan Hashmi is back and how! Dressed in the Indian cricket team jersey, Emraan rocked in the first look of his coming movie ‘Azhar’, a biopic based on the former Indian cricket captain-turned-politician Mohammad Azharuddin. The cricketer was fondly called as Azhar by his fans and looks like that seems to be the idea behind keeping the movie title. The movie directed by Anthony D’Souza, of the Akshay Kumar-starrer Boss fame looks quite intriguing especially with the near perfect mannerisms reflected by Emran Hashmi of the controversial cricketer. In the first poster of Azhar, we see a blue-jersey donned Emraan Hashmi who is walking in the stadium amid cheers and protests at the same time. The former captain’s cricketing career was marred by the fixing allegations with Mohammad Azharuddin confessing about losing the 1999 one-day international against Pakistan at Jaipur. Apart from the grayish on-field story, Azharuddin’s personal life has also been in constant media attention, especially his second marriage to actress Sangita Bijlani. It would be interesting to see who plays the role of yesteryear actress and Azhar’s now divorced wife.
It will be interesting to watch Emraan Hashmi play the role of wristy batsman who was well known for his artistic shots in the history of game. The biopic on ‘The Wristy Magician’ as he was famously addressed is highly anticipated by the audiences mostly among the cricket fans who wanted to know all about the rise and fall of one of the most famous cricketers of all time.
This film has not heightened our curiosity but we are waiting with bated breath as more biopics will be doled out in the days to come including the one on Mahendra Singh Dhoni starring Sushant Singh Rajput. As far as this movie is concerned Emraan as Azhar look really promising. We are also looking forward to see the kissie-boy in his next Humari Adhuri Kahani co-starring Vidya Balan.
